Arsenal are very keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah in the summer, according to Sport Bild. The German magazine reports the existence of a €40m (£33m) release clause has piqued the Gunners’ interest in the 24-year-old.
The London club will, however, face competition from Atletico Madrid for the German international’s signature, and while he is available for a reasonable price, fans on Twitter are not sure Arsenal should be targeting him:
I really don't like him

Any serious club shouldn't sign a defender in a league where they concede goals for fun

Although there are some supporters who would support the move:
Been touting this for years, would love to have Tah at Arsenal

That’s not bad tbh he’s a good center back
— Nicolas (@nick_8M) 19 February 2020
Leverkusen’s defensive record is not that bad this season, having conceded only 29 goals in 22 league games, but they did let in 52 in 34 matches last campaign despite finishing fourth in the Bundesliga table.
Tah would, therefore, be a risk, but the Gunners do have a limited time to make a decision on moving for the centre-half. His release clause expires before Euro 2020 in June, and it will likely be an early summer purchase if the club opt to make a bid for him.
