“I Have Just Arrived!” La Liga Star Claims He’s Happy At His Current Club Despite Rumours Of 26M Arsenal Bid

Barcelona winger Ferran Torres has dismissed reports that he could have left the Camp Nou just months after joining from Manchester City.

There was a very speculative story in the Catalan media that Arsenal had tabled a €30m (£26m) offer for the Spaniard before the transfer window closed at the start of this month, but Torres says he would not have considered leaving the club:

“An exit? I have just arrived at Barça! It’s a pride that a player like this [Lewandowski] is here, we already know him and we know what kind of player he is. There have been other signings, we are fighting to make a competitive team, which is what Barça deserves.”

Even though he was only signed by Barca for €65m in January, Torres has already been benched, mainly because of the wealth of attacking talent at the disposal of manager Xavi.

In addition to Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, Ansu Fati and Memphis Depay are also competing for places in the starting eleven.

Torres did make a big impression after coming on as a substitute against Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday night, though, scoring and providing an assist during the 5-1 win. It doesn’t appear he is keen on leaving the La Liga side anytime soon.
