“I Don’t See…” Journalist Plays Down Arsenal’s Chances Of Signing 30M Rated South American Star Before Window Shuts

Brighton are not expected to sell Arsenal target Moises Caicedo before the transfer window closes, according to the Daily Telegraph‘s Luke Edwards.

The Gunners (along with Manchester United, West Ham, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen) have all been linked with the Ecuadorian in recent days but, speaking to the BBC‘s Transfer Gossip Daily podcast, Edwards claims the Seagulls are not interested in offloading the player:

“I don’t see Brighton letting him go in this window. I don’t doubt he will go on and play for one of the top six clubs.”

There had been some reports that Caicedo is rated at around £30m by Brighton, but that is unlikely to be enough to prise the 20-year-old away from the south coast.

Following the sales of Marc Cucurella and Yves Bissouma, the Seagulls are in a strong financial position. The midfielder has also only recently broken into the club’s first team so they may also feel it is too early to cash in.

Arsenal are still thought to be in the market for one or two further signings this summer but, if they are going to strengthen their options in the middle of the park, it’s unlikely they’ll target Caicedo.
