Huntelaar Transfer Rumors Snubbed By Schalke Boss

Arsenal were obligated to make a last minute transfer after Giroud picked up an ankle injury which will keep him off the pitch for the next 4 months. Wenger had to find a solution fast as the transfer window was about to close. Before actually signing Welbeck, there were many names linked with a move to the Emirates. According to many rumors, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was one of the strikers who could have made it to Arsenal. The 31 year old who was once one of the most promising forwards in the world could have represented a great solution for Wenger who needed a box striker.

Huntelaar had the experience and the qualities to replace Giroud. Even so, according to the Evening Standard, Schalke recently declared that there were no negotiations between them and Arsenal. Apparently, the Dutch striker is very happy playing for the German side where he’s been for the past three years. It may be fortunate for Arsenal that things lead to Welbeck’s transfer. Huntelaar failed to showcase the same qualities he showed while at Ajax. While at Milan and Real, he had a poor scoring rate which was pretty close to that of Torres while playing for Chelsea.

The 31 year old seems more comfortable with being the star of the team which would not have happened if he was to transfer to Emirates. Things worked out for the best for both the player and Arsenal. It is pretty obvious that Schalke is the perfect fit for Huntelaar who has managed 91 goals and 26 assists in 141 games for the German side.
