How Will Arsenal Line Up Against Southampton?

Good news for Arsenal fans who might get to see Mustafi and Perez perform against Southampton this Saturday. While the German international is in doubt and still needs to build his game sharpness with the other defenders, Perez is ready to go. Apparently, he has adapted well and impressed during training sessions. Here is what Monreal had to say:

“I know him very well because I follow La Liga quite a lot. I enjoyed watching him play last season. He had a fantastic campaign, scoring 17 league goals, despite not playing for one of the strongest teams.

“He can contribute with many things for Arsenal because he is different to the rest of the players in the squad.

“He is quick, left-footed and he finds spaces really easily. He is going to help us a lot.

“After having a few training sessions with him, I can say that I am very surprised with him. He is a very good player and he will fit into the group nicely.

“The language barrier is the first challenge a foreign player must face.

“Fortunately for Lucas, he speaks a decent English and understands everything. The language barrier won´t be an issue for him.” [Quotes provided by the Daily Express]

Mustafi is doing well too but unfortunately the scare he gave Wenger during international duty combined with his lack of games next to Koscielny and Holding may only give him a small number of minutes on the pitch. If all goes well and the Gunners have a strong lead against the Saints, the German defender might be sent in to replace Koscielny who was thrown into action earlier than he should have been. It’s a pity that Mertesacker is injured as he is familiar with his compatriot.

There’s more good news regarding this Saturday’s game. Ramsey and Iwobi are expected to return. Honestly Ramsey should not be pushed into playing especially when you have most of the lot available especially when it comes to the midfield. Xhaka, Elneny, Cazorla and Ozil are fit and will probably get to play. Sanchez will return to start with Ozil likely to play too. Other than Mertesacker, Welbeck and Paulista, Wenger should be able to put together 90% of this season’s most favourable team.
