Shot Stopping
Let’s start off with the most crucial aspect of a goalkeeper’s game. Save percentage is used a lot when it comes to measuring shot-stopping ability, and Ramsdale is competing well with the Premier League’s best in this metric. The Gunners’ no.1 has a 80.7% save ratio currently, which is better than Mendy (80.6%), De Gea (73.8%), Alisson (70.1%) and Ederson (68.7%). Sa (85.2%) is the only one currently performing better in the top flight.
However, save percentage is not the only way to gauge a keeper’s ability to save a shot. If we compare xG to how many goals their team actually concede, we get another insight into how good they are at keeping out clear-cut chances. Here, Ramsdale comes out less favourably (+0.7), although he is still doing better than Mendy (+0.6) and Ederson (-3.1). De Gea (+8.4) and Sa (+7.4) are way out in front here, with Alisson (+2.1) just slightly better than Arsenal’s shot-stopper.
