Luiz’s injury may lead to the 24-year-old moving centrally. With the likes of Shkodran Mustafi and Pablo Mari also out injured, and Sokratis not in Arteta’s first-team plans, Holding looks like he could play a prominent role in the first few rounds of fixtures.
Holding was reportedly poised to join Newcastle on loan but due to Arteta’s lack of options, the decision has been made to keep him for now.
