How Are Arsenal Loanees Faring Away From The Emirates This Season?

Arsenal have a number of players out on loan this season, and some are certainly performing better than others whilst away from the Emirates.

A month after our last update, here’s a look at how seven of them are getting on:

Reiss Nelson

The 18-year-old is in superb form. Despite only starting four matches for Hoffenheim, he has racked up seven goals and one assist.

Many supporters are calling for Nelson to be recalled in the January transfer window following his stand out performances in the Bundesliga.

David Ospina

The Colombian hasn’t cemented his place as Napoli’s number one goalkeeper but he has started seven of the club’s 12 Serie A games, as well as playing in all four of the Italian club’s Champions League group games.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti is, however, rotating his keepers with former Watford shot-stopper Orestis Karnezis also being given game time this season.

Calum Chambers

The 23-year-old has had an extremely difficult start to life at Fulham. The Cottagers have conceded 16 goals during his seven league appearances. The only game in which they kept a clean sheet when he played was against Exeter City in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

It will be interesting to see where he features in new manager Claudio Ranieri’s first team plans.

Takuma Asano

The Japanese midfielder has not played for Hannover in recent weeks. He started the season as a first team regular, making the starting eleven for four of the first five league matches.

However, since then, he has barely featured and didn’t make the squad for the last two Bundesliga games against Schalke and Wolfsburg. His last appearance came against Wolfsburg in the German Cup at the end of last month.

Krystian Bielik

The 20-year-old is back in Charlton manager Lee Bowyer’s first team plans. He has started the last two league games against Doncaster Rovers and Walsall, helping to keep two clean sheets.

Against the Saddlers, the Polish defender scored the second goal six minutes into the second half, helping to seal a 2-0 win.

Kelechi Nwakali

The Nigerian starlet has been disappointing since joining Porto B in the summer. While he started three of the first four league games of the season, he has only managed one brief substitute appearance over the past two months.

He came on for the last 15 minutes against Famalicao in the 4-2 defeat at the back end of last month. A recall may be on the cards in January.

Matt Macey

The 24-year-old has played every single minute for Plymouth Argyle in League One so far this season. However, with the Pilgrims struggling at the wrong end of the table, the keeper has conceded 29 and kept just two clean sheets in 17 matches.

Things have started to pick up recently with Argyle having won two of their last three games, but they still remain third from bottom.
