Higuain To Join Ozil At Arsenal?

Arsene Wenger is targeting a couple of strikers to bolster his attacking force next season. The Gunners only had one quality striker at their disposal last season and Olivier Giroud certainly felt the effects as he suffered from burnout.

The north London side have been linked with a host of strikers this summer, most recently Italy forward Mario Balotelli. However, Wenger is targeting long-term transfer target Higuain, who scored 24 goals in all competitions for Napoli last season.

Higuain decided to join Napoli from Real Madrid last summer, whereas Ozil moved to Arsenal from the Bernabeu. Wenger is now targeting to reunite both attacking players with a concrete bid for the 26-year-old.

The Argentina forward has hinted at a possible departure from Naples after just a season in Serie A, according to the Express. However, Wenger will have to contend with interest from Barcelona as new boss Luis Enrique is also targeting the Napoli forward.

On being asked whether he would like to play alongside Messi, Higuain said, “Of course. I enjoy playing alongside him for the national team. Obviously it would be an enormous pleasure, but for now I’m focused on the World Cup. I’m flattered by the interest from Barca. Any player would be.”

Wenger will not want to miss out on the forward for a second consecutive season and is prepared to spend big for Higuain’s services.
