Higuain Seemingly Inching Closer To Arsenal As Tevez Joins Juventus

Carlos Tevez has left Manchester City and joined up at Italian giants Juventus, clearing the way for Arsenal to wrap up a deal for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, after the Gunners were facing competition from the Serie A champions for the latter’s signature.

Arsenal have been linked with moves for various strikers this summer, after seeing the side nearly lose their UEFA Champions League status last season, finishing fourth on the final day of the Barclays Premier League. Arsene Wenger would have been sort of saisfied by the debut season of Olivier Giroud, who produced a reasonable return at his new club. Ever so, Wenger has been linked with moves for Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic and Madrid’s Higuain.

Having played at the highest level for Madrid, Higuain has been part of one of the biggest clubs in the world, which could be the reason why Wenger chose to follow up with a bid for the striker ahead of Jovetic. Arsenal fans were left excited by the club’s chief executive Ivan Gazidis, who indicated that surplus funds would be available this summer for Wenger to buy the biggest players in the world.

The fee demanded by Madrid for the striker is in the range of £25 million, and without the possibility of the price being driven up by competition, now that Juventus have secured Tevez, the deal looks set to be concluded. Also, the funds from this deal could enable recently unveiled Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti to make his first moves at his new club.

Higuain has been associated with Madrid for nearly 7 years, having played 187 matches and scored 107 goals for The Whites. However, over the seasons, he has not permanently been part of the starting eleven, which is one of the factors of him leaving this summer. His international career has also been stop start, with only 2 appearances for the South American side in 2013.

According to DailyMail, Higuain’s brother has confirmed that Tevez signing for Juventus is a positive for Arsenal, who are now closer to clinching a deal for the Madrid striker.

Higuain’s brother said, “If Tevez joins Juve, is Higuain closer to Arsenal? I think so.”

“Juventus is a great club, but Gonzalo is too expensive for them.”

“Napoli are a strong team. Having said that, I cannot deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal.”

Let’s hope we get confirmation of this signing soon as Higuain would be a real boost to the club.
