Arsenal had already reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer fee following a brief period of negotiations, after which they even had a verbal discussion with the Argentine about the wages which were accepted by him. He was then widely tipped to complete his switch to Arsenal, however the deal has still not gone through, much to the frustration of the Gunners.

The delay is thought to be because of the fact that Madrid’s new manager Carlo Ancelotti has had a personal discussion with Higuain about his plans of next season for the team. Higuain is believed to be impressed with the same, and has been given assurances by Ancelotti that he will be playing a much vital role than he played the previous seasons if he decides to stay put. Higuain is now apparently reconsidering his decision of quitting the Santiago Bernabeu.

This undue postponing of the transfer has left Arsenal less than impressed, as they are being forced to put their other summer transfer plans on hold due to him. Metro is now reporting that they have contacted his agent and are asking for an ultimatum from his client. They want to know whether Higuain is still keen to join them, or has decided to stay put.

If he has decided to remain in Spain, they will then chase their other choices which are understood to be Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney. They have been incessantly linked to both the strikers this summer, and with a huge amount of money available to spend, this deal is still very much within the London club’s reach.

There are differing stories over the reason for the delay in the transfer but many believe the fee is being disputed with Madrid being greedy and holding out for over £30 million after Arsenal had offered £23 million which was seemingly acceptable at one point to Real but now with the whole Suarez bids and Arsenal maybe preferring the Uruguyan and Ancelotti naybe wanting to keep Higuain you can see why things are so complicated and delayed not to mention Napoli now being interested in the Argentinian striker.

What is going on within Higuain’s mind is unknown to us all. What has he decided? Is he still keen to come to England? Or has he performed a dramatic u-turn and decided to stay put at Madrid itself od does he fancy Naoli and will Suarez come to Arsenal? So many questions…
