Henry Pinpoints One Arsenal Star Who Got Them Out Of Jail Against Bournemouth

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was not particularly pleased with the Gunners’ 1-1 draw against Bournemouth yesterday. Although he didn’t want to judge Mikel Arteta’s first game in charge too harshly, he felt the same failings were on display at the Vitality Stadium.

The Frenchman thinks the team’s overreliance on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has to change over the coming weeks and months as the Spaniard begins to impose his philosophy on the team:

“I don’t think they played well but Aubameyang scored. I’ve seen that so many times. We go back to the [Bournemouth] goal. I don’t want to name names but we’re talking about the same guys again and again.”

“[Alexandre] Lacazette should have won it with a good chance but it’s difficult to judge that team right now. They are trying to learn under a new manager so we will see.”

Henry might be a bit harsh on the Gunners’ performance. They certainly created a lot more opportunities against the Cherries than they have in recent matches, but they were wasteful with their finishing.

Aubameyang was certainly the biggest threat on the pitch in front of goal and Arteta will be hoping that others in the squad can step up to the plate, and give the side a more clinical edge, when they face the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United over the next week.
