Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno put in a man of the match performance to help the Gunners progress to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup last night.
The German international pulled off a string of saves against Liverpool before also performing heroics in the penalty shootout at Anfield and supporters on Twitter were hailing the shot-stopper’s display after the game:
He saved our bacon last night.

There had been some question marks about Leno in recent weeks, with some feeling that manager Mikel Arteta may have made a mistake by letting Emi Martinez leave for Aston Villa, rather than dispensing with the services of Leno instead.
Last night would have silenced any doubters, though, with the German showing why Arteta has placed his trust in the 28-year-old to be the club’s number one going forward.
Leno’s inclusion was actually a surprise, with many expecting new signing Runar Alex Runarsson to get his debut, but fans were glad that they had a safe pair of hands in between the sticks to keep a crucial clean sheet.
