Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has decided against signing Dani Ceballos on a permanent basis from Real Madrid, according to reports in England.
The Gunners only recently extended his loan until the end of the season, but the Spanish international has not done enough to persuade Arteta that he should be kept at the Emirates.
Supporters on Twitter have largely backed Arteta’s reported decision on Ceballos:
He just hasn't done enough for me. Decent player. Maybe a decent back up but not for a club with limited funds- not sure what role suits him to be honest

I don’t think he’s good enough. Haven’t got that creative spark that we need in the team.

It has very much been a stop-start season for the 23-year-old. After being brought in as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey by Unai Emery, he started the campaign in good form.
However, a hamstring injury meant Ceballos missed most of November and December. On his return, and under the management of Arteta, it took a while for him to regain his fitness and his place in the starting eleven.
The Spaniard has started the last six league games, but with a return of just two goals and two assists from 28 matches, it appears the cost of signing him permanently is seen as not worth the investment.
