Arsenal are considering whether to make a move for AC Milan attacking midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, according to CBS Sports‘ journalist James Benge.
The former Gunners correspondent for Football.London claims the Turkish international is being looked at as a target if the London club can’t agree a deal for Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard:
Another target who Arsenal are understood to have broached internally is Hakan Calhanoglu, out of contract with AC Milan this summer. He is an option, not clear how high on the list he might be but expectation is he’s an alternative to Odegaard.

As Benge mentions, Calhanoglu will be available on a free transfer at the end of this month. He has not signed a new contract with Milan despite playing a key role for the Rossoneri last season, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists in 43 appearances.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Juventus have also been linked with the 27-year-old over the past few months, but it doesn’t seem like he is close to making a decision on his future at the moment.
The fact Calhanoglu is available for nothing may well make him an attractive target, as it would then free up funds for manager Mikel Arteta to strengthen other areas of the pitch.
