Hartson Praises Arsenal Signing Who He Thinks Will Turn Out To Be A Bargain

Former Arsenal striker John Hartson believes the Gunners have a “fantastic player” in Kieran Tierney, and the £25m they paid Celtic for the player will turn out to be an excellent piece of business.

Hartson, who watched the left-back on a regular basis for the Hoops, compared the signing to Manchester United’s deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and he thinks Arsenal have got themselves a player on the cheap. He told Football Fancast:

“Arsenal have got a snip. Listen if Wan Bissaka cost Manchester United £50m at £25m they’ve got an absolute snip. Arsenal have a fantastic player on their hands.”

“Tierney can play left back, left centre-back and, if Arsenal want to play with a 3, then he provides that option too. He has great fitness levels and gets up and down the pitch with ease. For £25m Arsenal have a fantastic player on their hands.”

Tierney is now back in full training, but he may need more time to build up his fitness before featuring for the first team. The 22-year-old had a hernia operation in the summer and has not played a senior game since May.

He could play against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League next week or in the Carabao Cup third-round tie versus Nottingham Forest later this month. Either way, fans will be keenly awaiting his debut for the Gunners.
