Gunners Set To Lose Out On Another Two Goalkeepers

Arsene Wenger has lost reserve goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski after the Pole decided to depart the Emirates in favour of a move to Swansea City this summer. The Frenchman is carrying out a comprehensive search for a replacement that has, thus far, yielded no new realistic options.

According to the Daily Star, there were talks of Arsenal making a move for unsettled Iker Casillas of Real Madrid but the Spain captain is happy to stay at the Bernabeu. Arsenal’s options for a replacement are getting thinner by the day with news that Barca have completed a move for Claudio Bravo, who has been with Sociedad for the past eight seasons.

With Valdes having announced his departure, the Catalan giants have been swift in announcing a deal for Marc-Andre ter Stegen as their new number one. They have also followed it up by making Bravo their second-choice goalie.

The other option lies with the Gunners reviving their interest in out-of-favour German keeper René Adler who is ready to leave Hamburg and is being seriously courted by Gus Poyet’s Sunderland who are ready to complete the deal to bring the former German national team goalie to wearside. Arsene Wenger will have to move quickly if he wants Adler seemingly but that is unlikely to happen given Wenger’s usual go-slow transfer policy so Arsenal will reportedly now turn their attention to St. Etienne’s Stephane Ruffier after the latest goalkeeping revelations.
