Arsenal fans have been left frustrated as the rumoured swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez and Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan continues to stall.

United have emerged as shock favourites to sign Sanchez after Manchester City dropped out the race over the Arsenal’s transfer demands for the Chile international; however have a caveat of their own.

The agent of Mkhitaryan, Mino Raiola, has insisted that in order for Sanchez to make the move away from The Emirates and to Old Trafford, his player must agree to go the other way. If not, a deal will not happen, and the Armenia star has yet to decide on his future having only joined Manchester United in the summer of 2016 from Borussia Dortmund.

“Mkhi is going to do what is best for him. He has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, so it’s his decision.” said Raiola.

“Sánchez is part of the Mkhi deal, not the other way around.”

Mkhitaryan has started just two games in the past two months for United, and has found himself surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

The stall in the deal between the two clubs have allowed Chelsea to re-enter the fray for Sanchez, with Blues boss Antonio Conte reportedly keen on taking the want-away Arsenal star across the capital to Stamford Bridge.

However, Arsenal fans would of course prefer the former of those two options, but have been left infuriated by the ongoing saga with United over the out-of-favour pair’s proposed swap deal …
