Griezmann reveals why he will NEVER sign for Arsenal

Arsenal have been effectively told where to go by Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, ruling out ever moving to the Emirates after a failed transfer back in 2013.

Griezmann is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, and has attracted attention from clubs all over Europe – including the likes of Arsenal.

However, the Frenchman has revealed the Gunners tried to sign him back in 2013 when he was playing for Real Sociedad. Griezmann says that Eric Olhats was informed by Gilles Grimandi, the Arsenal scout, that Arsene Wenger was interested in signing him.

The forward was interested in the move, as he revealed in his autobiography Behind the Smile, and explains how he put aside other offers in order to join the Gunners.

“I waited, I waited, and I kept waiting … when there was no news, Eric called Grimandi, who said that the manager was still interested in me [and] to keep waiting,” he wrote.

“Finally a few hours before the market closed, he let us know Arsenal would not make a move. I don’t like to be told something and for it not to happen.

“So when Eric told me later that the London club were interested again I told him ‘Forget it, after the blow they gave us.”
