Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck scored twice in the 3-1 win over Brentford last night as the Gunners moved into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
The 27-year-old has had to settle for a place on the bench more often than not for league matches, but he now has four goals to his name this season.
Fans on Twitter praised the form of Welbeck after yesterday’s victory:
I’m dumbfounded with Welbz performance of late. 4 goals and he stayed on his feet FOR WVERY SINGLE ONE!? Safe to say we have the best striker in the planet with him. ??

Danny Welbeck has made me proud today. I always knew he had this type of performance in him. Unai Emery has been great for both his and Iwobi's development. He's had them since the summer…development ?

Hoping Danny gets to shut his critics out this season.

New contract for Welbeck? Think we couldn’t do much better than him in terms of a squad player

Said in the summer that we should keep Welbeck and said that he is a good squad player and guess what? I got laughed at? pic.twitter.com/p1YDKkq5mQ

The England international is no doubt looking to prove himself to manager Unai Emery. However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have struck up a good understanding up front and the Spaniard will be reluctant to split up the pair.
The latter scored in injury time yesterday to clinch the win, taking his tally to three for the season, with his strike partner having scored four.
Welbeck may, therefore, have to wait for his chance with his likely next start coming in the Europa League fixture against Qarabag next Thursday.
