Goals galore in Singapore: Arsenal sweep aside PSG in pre-season clash

Arsenal swept aside PSG 5-1 in Singapore earlier today as Unai Emery’s fine start to life as manager continues.

Emery took over from the long-standing Arsene Wenger earlier this summer, and has enjoyed a solid start to life as a Gunner, watching his side beat Boreham Wood 8-0 before losing out on penalties to Atletico Madrid.


And today’s clash versus his former side was expected to be his biggest test yet as Arsenal boss – however the Spaniard watched on in delight as his newly formed side crushed the Ligue 1 giants in Singapore.

Captain Mesut Ozil gave the Gunners the lead after just 12 minutes, slotting home from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s low cross.

Youngster Christopher Nkunku levelled for the Parisians from the spot early in the second half before Alexandre Lacazette restored Arsenal’s lead with 67 minutes played. The Frenchman then added his second and Arsenal’s third four minutes later when he nodded home into an empty net after PSG failed to clear the ball from Aaron Ramsey’s headed ball across the box.

Rob Holding made it 4-1 with a quite sublime looping header and youngster Eddie Nketiah completed the scoring in stoppage time.

Arsenal will continue their pre-season campaign against London rivals Chelsea in Dublin on Wednesday.
