Gibbs Hoping To Make It To Brazil

Kieran Gibbs, who has just turned 24, says he is ready to take on Ashley Cole and Leighton Baines for a spot in England’s first eleven.

Gibbs has high hopes for the year to come. The Gunner who had a lot of health problems over the years is finally feeling strong enough to be determined for Roy Hodgson to recall him for the 2014 World Cup. The 24 year old had a bad three years, facing a series of injuries that kept him from performing for both his club and his national team. Last season was a bit different for Arsenal’s left back who managed 34 appearances and showed great form. He was called back about a year ago by Hodgson but was left behind after another series of minor injuries.

According to DailyMail, Gibbs stated he is in the best form of his career. He remains optimistic and hopes he will be part of the 2014 World Cup team. The fact that he managed to tie together more than 30 matches last season and that he is now Wenger’s first choice really gave him a confidence boost which according to him was all he needed to put his career back on track.

Gibbs’s good form is apparently the result of his new collaboration with a personal trainer who according to the Wenger’s player, is responsible for his physical fitness over the past year or so. Arsenal’s left back also spoke about how his confidence level has increased seeing that for the first time in his career he managed to deal with a busy game schedule. The Premier League is probably the most demanding championship in the world so managing three matches per week is a must if he wants to play at the highest possible level.

Besides facing the fact that he has to train extra hard both on and off the pitch, Gibbs is also dealing with some tough opposition as far as the national team goes. Ashley Cole and Everton’s Leighton Baines are currently Hodgson’s first and second choices. Luckily for Arsenal’s player, Wenger is not as fortunate as England’s manager, having only Monreal to challenge Gibbs.
