Gerrard Talked Me Into Contract Extension – Suarez

Suarez’s move to England has been far from rosy despite his unquestionable talent. He often found himself trapped in controversies and making the newspapers for things other than his quality football. He has complained in the past about being targeted by the English press, so much so, that he even considered leaving Liverpool.

That speculation reached its peak in the summer, when he asked to quit Anfield. Arsenal very infamously bid £40 million and £1 for him and relentless chased him throughout the summer, but the Reds did not entertain any offers for the Uruguayan. Now, things have completely changed for the striker as he has performed a dramatic u-turn and signed a new contract with Liverpool. That has coincided with better fortunes for the club from Merseyside who are well in the title race.

According to Metro, Suarez feels that the entire fortuitous siutation is down to his club captain Gerrard, who talked him into committing his future to Liverpool, as he said, “He didn’t talk about me, or through me, in the press, but in person,”

“In those moments I forgot that he was “world football great Gerrard”, a Liverpool legend, but as a humble person who spoke to me with all his heart for hours. He said I was the best forward he’d ever played with, which given the amazing strikers that he’s played with at Liverpool, was amazing for me to hear.

“I’ll never forget that.”
