German U21 Shot-Stopper Set To Turn Down Arsenal Despite Promise Of Playing Cup Games

Dynamo Dresden goalkeeper Markus Schubert has decided to reject an offer from Arsenal, according to Sport1.

The German TV station is reporting that the 21-year-old is keen to stay in Germany despite the Gunners holding talks with the shot-stopper.

Arsenal reportedly promised Schubert that he would play in the Carabao Cup next season if he moved to the Emirates, but it appears it wasn’t enough to persuade him to leave his homeland.

There had been reports earlier this month that the London club had secured a deal for the German Under 21 international but it appears that wasn’t the case.

Schubert is expected to make his final decision after today’s European Under 21 Championship final against Spain. He will be on the bench for the game behind first choice Alexander Nubel.

Ironically, he could be second choice to Nubel at club level soon as well with Nubel’s side Schalke now the favourites to secure his signature.
