Gazidis promises Arsenal fans an exciting summer

Arsenal chief Ivan Gazidis has promised further signings under new boss Unai Emery this summer, having already secured two major signings with a third and fourth in the pipeline.

The Gunners have already completed deals for Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno in recent weeks, and Sokratis Papastathopoulos is looking likely to be announced as an Arsenal player in the coming days. Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira has also been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates, but this deal is unlikely to be announced until after the World Cup.

Earlier in the week, Gazidis took part in a Q&A session with Emery, talking about their visions for the club going forward.

And Gazidis assured Gunners fans that there are plenty of positives that will come out of this summer.

“We have brought in a new head of recruitment in Sven Mislintat and alongside him is Huss Fahmy who has been involved with negotiating a lot of our player contracts and also we have Raul Sanllehi who joins us from Barcelona,” he told the fans in attendance, as reported by Football.London.

“So we really have a collective effort now, in terms of how we identify players and then how we take forward our interest and of course Unai is a huge part of that as well.

“This is now a different way of doing things, one with a very, very accomplished team of professionals who we have spent time bedding into the club.

“Unai has been in the thick of that process in terms of what we need in the squad, we’ve signed two new players so far this summer and there will be more to come.”
