Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes Arsenal’s campaign could be derailed if Gabriel Jesus picks up an injury at any point.
The £45m signing from Manchester City has played a key role in the Gunners’ strong start to the season but, speaking on the Overlap, Neville said he feels Mikel Arteta’s side may already be overreliant on the Brazilian:
“I think [if] Jesus gets injured, you are done.”
You have to say that Neville does have a point. Arsenal’s options up front are rather limited. Eddie Nketiah has certainly shown he is a capable backup in recent months but would he be as effective as Jesus?
There is an argument that Gabriel Martinelli could be deployed more centrally if the need arises, but the potency of the Gunners’ attack would undoubtedly be weakened were he to switch from his role on the left flank.
Fans will certainly be hoping that Jesus doesn’t pick up any major fitness issues between now and May.
