Galatasaray Aiming At Sagna Swoop

Galatasaray Aiming At Sagna Swoop

Bacary Sagna arrived at Arsenal from Ligue 1 side Auxerre back in 2005. Ever since, he has been the first choice right-back at the club. He has established himself as a vital element in the stable back four alongside Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Kieren Gibbs. His solid performances at the back have seen Arsenal leak very few goals on their way to the summit of the league table this season. Also, his bombarding runs down the right add another dimension to the Gunners’ wide play.

The French national now enters the final six months of his current deal with Arsenal, which is due to expire in the summer. That enables him to talk to interested suitors and reach a pre-contract agreement in January, which will see him quit Arsenal in the summer, for free. Thus far, all attempts from Arsenal’s side to get Sagna to sign a new contract have been unsuccessful, however Arsene Wenger remains hopeful of tying him down at the earliest possible.

Galatasaray have entered the fray now, as the Turkish giants are interested in swooping for him this month. They are ready to hike his annual salary to an impressive £4.1 million after taxes, from the current £3.6 million he earns at Arsenal now, report the Daily Mail. They want to shore up their defence, and feel that the acquisition of Sagna is exactly what they need.
