“From What I’m Told…” Romano Confirms That Arsenal Have Missed Out On TWO Strikers

Arsenal are still looking to sign a “young striker” despite being rebuffed in their attempts to sign the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Dusan Vlahovic, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist claims the Gunners have not given up on their pursuit for a new number nine, even though they have been rejected by two high-profile names in the past few months:

“Arsenal’s plan, from what I’m told, is to sign an important striker in the coming months. Let’s see if it’ll be January or the summer. They were interested in Lautaro Martinez but Inter said: ‘no, wait until the summer’. They have an interest in Dusan Vlahovic but the player is not looking for this kind of solution right now. But Arsenal are looking for a young striker and they want to do something interesting for the club. I’d keep an eye on strikers for Arsenal in the coming months.”

The move for Martinez was thought to have been scuppered when Inter Milan agreed to sell Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea instead, while Romano has confirmed that Vlahovic is keener on other options, with Juventus and Manchester City also said to be interested.

In terms of who that new recruit could be, there are a few possible candidates circulating, with the latest rumours pointing towards names such as Lille’s Jonathan David (21), Internacional’s Yuri Alberto (20) and Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin (24).

Whether a bid will be tabled for any of these players in the January transfer window, we shall have to wait and see.
