Similarly to touches, carries give us a good indication as to how involved a player is in the match, but the difference is that this also shows us how often they take control of the ball, rather than just laying it off with the first touch.


Against the Foxes, Jorginho had 48 carries, which is just below Partey’s average (48.6) in the Premier League this season. It demonstrates that both have similar mentalities when in possession.

Of course, we will need a bigger sample size to see if Jorginho continues to carry the ball but his numbers from his time at Chelsea suggest that he will.
