The Midfield Conundrum

Ceballos

Arsenal’s midfield looked the most solid when Thomas Partey and Mo Elneny performed in tandem against Manchester United earlier this month, and while that certainly will be a good pairing in big games going forward, you need to have other options who can provide more creativity.

With that in mind, you’d have hoped that Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka would have offered more with both Partey and Elneny absent. Yet it seems that, while not being as effective as a pair defensively, they are finding it just as difficult to impose their game in the attacking third of the pitch. More signings may be needed in January.
