Former Arsenal Player Braced For Boos

Emmanuel Adebayor will be preparing himself for the first time in his career at the prospect of being booed by both sets of supporters in a stadium, as the former Arsenal player welcomes the club at White Hart Lane where Tottenham Hotspur fans have not taken to the striker’s performances this season, according to the Mirror.

Adebayor began his career at Metz as a youth player in 1999 before signing a professional contract with the club. After just two seasons, Monaco came calling, and this is where Arsenal took notice of the striker’s abilities, preparing a bid and get ahead of rival teams. In 2006, the 30-year old moved to Arsenal, where he enjoyed three seasons through 104 league appearances. Manchester City then signed the player, but Adebayor could never really be considered as a dependable first team player. Loan spells were the only option left, as he went to Real Madrid for half a season, and then to Spurs, where he saw his best form and signed on a permanent deal.

The recently concluded transfer window almost saw Adebayor leave Spurs, as he was close to moving to West Ham United on loan, only for the deal to be rejected by Spurs at the last minute, leaving both player and Sam Allardyce frustrated. The Togo international will be aware of the intensity of the London derby, and could be subject of boos from both sets of fans for different reasons.
