Former Arsenal Man, Alex Song Targeted By Premier League Rivals

Chelsea and Manchester United are set on battling it out for former Arsenal man, Alex Song who is no longer part of Barcelona’s plans for next season. According to the Daily Star, the Cameroonian might join Fabregas in recreating the Gunners’ midfield from back when the two were managed by Wenger. The Gunners seem uninterested in resigning Song despite a rumored buy-back clause. Just like with Fabregas, Song could be joining city rivals, Chelsea who will buy the 26 year old as long as they are willing to send £20million to Barcelona.

Arsenal’s former player has had a rough time since moving to Barcelona. He failed to adapt and could not make his way to the starting 11. He played a couple of matches but was unable to outshine Sergio Busquets. Despite being linked to the Gunners during the winter transfer period, it seems that he might be leaving Barcelona for West London rather than for Emirates Stadium. Van Gaal is keen on bringing in Song after Fellaini was considered one of last season’s biggest flops. Chelsea on the other hand have two important players to challenge Song for a spot in the starting line-up. Matic, Obi Mikel and sometimes Ramires play the part of the link between the defensive line and the offensive. Song is set to make a decision sometime this month with the two Premier League teams being right on top of his list of possible destinations.
