But, the journalist implies, the manager just isn’t doing it and it is often implied that the manager is simply being thick-headed – remember Arsene Wenger anyone?

Yet this doesn’t make any sense. How come these journalists, who are not managers, know everything, and the managers (who rather obviously are managers) know nothing?
