‘Following Him Closely’ Arsenal Among 3 PL Clubs Chasing La Liga Defender With 34M Release Clause

Arsenal, West Ham and Wolves are all scouting Athletic Bilbao centre-back Dani Vivian, according to Fichajes.net.

The Spanish rumour mongers claim that the three Premier League sides are “following him closely” after the 22-year-old broke into the first-team this season.

Vivian spent last campaign out on loan at second division side Mirandes but he has started seven out of eight La Liga games for Athletic this year.

Fichajes report that Vivian’s release clause is €40m (£34m), which would make him an attractive target for other teams if he can build on his strong start to the season.

Athletic have only conceded four goals in the league this campaign and some of the credit for that has to go to Vivian, who has made a big impression on head coach Marcelino.

Whether the Gunners actually need another centre-half, though, it is debatable. Ben White and Gabirel have formed a strong partnership but the drop-off in quality to Rob Holding and Pablo Mari is quite severe. Vivian could be seen as an upgrade on their current squad options.
