Things couldn’t have gone much better for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on the opening day of the season. It wasn’t only the margin of victory against Fulham which would have pleased the Spaniard, but the manner in which they played as well.
Debutants impressed, while they were also some unlikely heroes on the pitch as the Gunners kept a clean sheet and got their campaign off to a winning start.
Unai Emery’s team did get a victory in the season opener last year as well, but this performance was far more impressive and suggests there is a lot more to come from this set of players this campaign.
