“Fantastic” Ian Wright Praises Arsenal Summer Signing After Impressing Against Norwich

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright was delighted with Takehiro Tomiyasu’s debut performance in the 1-0 win over Norwich yesterday.

The Japanese international was put straight into the side by manager Mikel Arteta, after only a couple of training sessions with his new teammates, but Wright was impressed by what he saw:

“I thought he (Tomiyasu) had a fantastic debut.”

Tomiyasu was very reliable defensively, looking authoritative in the air and pretty assured on the ball, barring a few loose touches here and there.

The 22-year-old did look pretty handy going forward as well, with a strike on goal just before halftime, showing his good technique with a volley.

Of course, Tomiyasu will face much tougher opponents than Norwich in the Premier League, and his physicality will undoubtedly be tested when the Gunners travel to Burnley next Saturday.

Turf Moor is not for the faint of heart, and it will be interesting to see how he kicks on from a very solid first appearance.
