Falcao Refused Arsenal Offer In Order To Join Manchester United

It seems that Arsenal are willing to spend a lot of money over the next few seasons. According to Metro, Wenger was going to pay Monaco the requested amount to bring in Falcao as a loan for the next two years. Not many know that this is actually a strategy to avoid fines from FIFA who have imposed the FFP rules on Premier League teams. This means that the Gunners were willing to pay Monaco a lot of money over the next two years which would have ended with the 28 year old’s permanent move.

Apparently, Arsenal were not the only ones interested in signing Falcao. Liverpool, City and Juventus were also in the race to secure El Tigre’s approval to leave Monaco. Manchester offered the most money despite having two of the best forwards already lined up to score a lot of goals.

Arsenal, who offered Falcao a deal before signing Welbeck, would have offered the Colombian the chance to perform on a regular basis. With Giroud out, the 28 year old striker would have probably become a constant presence in Wenger’s starting eleven.

It is still kind of a mystery why Falcao chose Manchester United over Arsenal or City. According to the player’s father, Manchester was the perfect destination due to the club’s great history and also due to the impressive display of power as far as finances go. Even if Arsenal missed out on Falcao, it might be for the best as the Gunners managed to sign Welbeck who is younger and probably more determined to impress the fans.
