Fabregas Mocks Former Arsenal Team Mate

According to Metro, while Cesc Fabregas’ future is nearly sealed, and that is at Barcelona for next season, the Spaniard has taken to Instagram to haunt his former Arsenal team mate Yohan Djourou of a video showing the defender fumble with the ball in a Barclays Premier League fixture against Reading.

Fabregas was the subject of a lot of flak from the Arsenal supporters when he left the club  in favor of a move to the Catalan giants in 2011. Arsene Wenger has always been a big fan of the midfielder’s qualities, and was interested in bringing him back to the club. When the Gunners decided to let him leave for Spain, they knew there was always a possibility of Fabregas not being able to find a place in the starting eleven considering the presence of players like Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta. This led the Arsenal officials to include a first buy clause in the event of Fabregas leaving Barcelona in the future. The fee for this clause was decided at £25 million, a price Arsenal were comfortable to part with in exchange for the midfielder’s services. Fabregas had a long impressive spell for Arsenal, and had established himself in the hearts of the supporters as their captain and legend. Having joined Arsenal at a very young age, the Spain international grew his position through the youth ranks and placed himself as the official playmaker in the squad.

Fabregas has been linked with a move to various Premier League outfits in the past few months including the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea. United boss David Moyes made the club’s intentions to bring Fabregas to Manchester very clear, and confirmed the club had launched a hefty bid to lure the player back to England. With the change in managers at Barcelona, it was unclear whether the new manager saw Fabregas as part of the core squad, and whether the player himself would be ready to settle for a place on the bench at the Nou Camp.

While social media continues to be a connection between players and fans, we are not sure about how pleased Djourou would be with his former skipper’s Instagram post.
