Fabregas Explains Why Arsenal Must Beat Chelsea In The FA Cup Final

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas says that the Gunners will be desperate to clinch silverware when they line up at Wembley tomorrow afternoon.

With the Blues having got used to winning Premier League titles and European trophies in recent years, Fabregas feels it would not hit Frank Lampard’s side as hard if they lose the cup final:

“Arsenal need it more, Chelsea basically every year has won a trophy, so it’s a different animal in this case. In terms of trophies, Arsenal needs it more and for confidence for next year and getting into Europe. Chelsea are in the Champions League and Arsenal has nothing at the moment.”

Both managers will be very keen to get their first trophy under their belt at their respective clubs but, as Fabregas points out, a victory for Arsenal could be a big springboard for head coach Mikel Arteta going into next season.

The Spaniard has certainly not done a lot wrong since taking charge last December but lifting silverware prior to his first full campaign in charge will no doubt solidify faith in him as the manager.

Arteta had never been in the hot seat before taking the reins at the Emirates and winning a cup final would certainly demonstrate his credentials.
