Fabianski Heading To Germany?

Polish goalkeeper, Lukas Fabianski who has been at the London club since 2007, has failed to maintain the position as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper when he has had the opportunity to make it his own. On his arrival from Legia Warsaw, he played second fiddle to Manuel Almunia and currently does the same to compatriot Wojciech Szczesny. He has struggled to get game time and has only featured sparingly this season with Szczesny playing virtualy every game.

Despite limited chances, he has performed well whenever given the chance, his latest outing being the brave display he put in Arsenal’s morale sapping 2-0 loss against Bayern Munich. The 28-year old’s current contract at Arsenal expires in the summer, and he has expressed his intentions of quitting the Gunners in search of regular first-team football.

Metro now believe that he is close to a switch to Schalke, who have registered an interest in him. It is being reported that they have already tabled a 3-year contract for him along with increasing his current salary structure. If he leaves, Fabianski will be the second goalkeeper to part ways with Arsenal, after Vito Mannone was sold to Sunderland previous summer. It is also certain to expect a new shot stopper arrive in the summer if this deal goes through.
