Former Arsenal winger Jermaine Pennant has exclusively told GoonerNews which injured Arsenal player the Gunners are missing the most.
The Gunners are dealing with a lot of injury problems at the moment, as before the international break, the likes of Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz were all injured. Mikel Arteta said that he expected all four to return soon after the break, with the North London derby coming up this weekend.
It will make the Arsenal manager’s life a lot more difficult in terms of team selection, but will give him plenty more options, and help with fixture congestion around the busy Christmas period. Odegaard and Havertz have been out for the longest, whereas Madueke and Martinelli were on shorter injuries.
We interviewed former Arsenal winger Jermaine Pennant via NewBettingSites.UK, and asked him which of the four players Mikel Arteta would be most pleased to have back. Pennant replied: “They’re all great players.
“It’s going to be tough to get Saka out of the team, I would probably say Odegaard. If he gets going, he is the orchestrator, and the bond and the chemistry that he’s got with Saka, we saw over the years, has been nothing but remarkable.
“If they can get that relationship back, we will see the stats and the goals that we’ve seen over the last couple of years. I think Odegaard will be the main one if he gets going.”
Could Odegaard return for Arsenal vs Tottenham?
The Gunners’ captain has been out injured with a knee issue since early October, missing eight games, and two international breaks. However, he is nearing a return, and it looks as though he could make an appearance against Tottenham on Sunday.
However, a more likely return will be the following week when Arsenal play Bayern Munich and Chelsea, based on Arteta’s recent comments. The Arsenal manager said before the international break: “It is going in a steady direction, but he is some distance away.”
As Pennant says, Arteta will be pleased to have all his players back, but Odegaard could make the extra impact, especially with some tough fixtures coming up over the Christmas period.
