Arsenal made eight summer signings to add to Mikel Arteta’s squad, giving him one of the best first teams in world football.
The Gunners are in an excellent position after the first two months of the season, sitting at the top of the Premier League table, one point clear of last year’s winners Liverpool.
Arsenal went into the break with a 2-0 win against West Ham, to overtake Liverpool, who lost their last two Premier League games against Chelsea and Crystal Palace. Furthermore, Arsenal’s fixtures are favourable when they return from the international break, which will give Arteta even more confidence.
Now we’re two months into the season and really in the thick of it, GoonerNews decided to rate every Arsenal summer signing based on how well they have done so far at the Emirates. This was the result…
Kepa Arrizabalaga – 5/10
Kepa has made just one appearance since joining Arsenal, it was during their Carabao Cup third round tie against Port Vale, when he kept a clean sheet.
He was brought in to be a backup for David Raya, and he is a very capable one at that, so a 5/10 rating seems fair for the former Chelsea stopper.
Cristhian Mosquera – 9/10
Mosquera looks like the bargain of the century, as Arsenal only paid around £13m for the Spanish defender. He has stood in for both William Saliba and Gabriel, and looks as good as the pair of them.
Furthermore, the centre-back is just 21 years-old and so will only get better, making him an incredible bargain based on what we’ve seen so far.
Piero Hincapie – 5/10
We haven’t seen much from Hincapie yet, as he has been dealing with a knock, so it is hard to give him a rating much better than five, but his talent speaks for itself.
Christian Norgaard – 3/10
Norgaard is yet to make much of an impact at Arsenal, he has yet to appear in the Premier League for Arteta, and has made just two appearances since the start of the season.
Reports have said that he is already planning his next move, as he has said he would like to re-join Danish side Brondby when he leaves Arsenal.
Martin Zubimendi – 9/10
Zubimendi has come into the Arsenal team, and he looks as if he has been here for his whole career. The Spanish international has scored two goals for the Gunners so far.
He will be a big part of any league title challenge if Arsenal are to go on and win the Premier League, a really top class addition.
Eberechi Eze – 8/10
We all know what Eze can do, and so far we’ve seen him showcase his creative ability for Arsenal, especially during their win against Newcastle late in September.
This rating could be higher, but we haven’t seen loads of Eze yet, so an eight feels fair for the England international.
Noni Madueke – 8/10
Madueke has been superb so far for Arsenal, he looks in the form of his life, and also looked great for England during the last international break.
This should be a higher rating, but he suffered a knee injury which is likely to keep him out until late November which is a huge blow for the former Chelsea star.
Viktor Gyokeres – 7/10
Gyokeres hasn’t scored in five games for Arsenal, but he has still provided that focal point up top that allows Arteta’s wide players to have more of a free reign in attack.
He will come good with his goal scoring numbers, it just hasn’t happened yet for the £64m man from Sporting CP.
