Everton Bully Arsenal’s Players Both On And Off The Pitch

Arsenal lost a good chance of consolidating their Premier League spot that would grant them access to next years’ Champions League after losing two important points at home against Everton. There was a lot of tension both on and off the pitch. The teams struggled to outplay one another and failed to score any goals. The pressure was bigger for Everton who could have closed the gap between them and the Gunners. Arsenal still have a good chance of finishing in the top four even if this result helps Chelsea and Spurs.

The match itself did not offer a lot of memorable moments. According to Metro, there were though some tough challenges from Everton players that should not have gone unsanctioned according to Wenger. The Frenchman also commented on the fact that Arsenal’s adversaries sometimes went over the top as far as getting physical goes. They did not care much about the Gunners’ safety turning the match into a pretty combative game for players such as Wilshere or Walcott, who are known as being a bit fragile.

During half time an incident occurred that apparently involved Wilshere and Kevin Mirallas. Everton’s player intentionally squeezed his water bottle in order to squirt Arsenal’s player. It was all recorded by several television channels and made the news later on Tuesday night. This led to some pushing and shoving down the tunnel that was apparently managed by some Everton players who calmed things down for both sides. Jagielka and Coleman quickly interjected between their team mate and Wilshere, and stopped things from degenerating any further. All Arsenal players were visibly annoyed by the way Everton handled the match. They were also frustrated by the fact that they could not win.

Wenger commented after the game, saying that he considered Everton’s approach as a bit inappropriate. He also said that Darron Gibson should have been eliminated after a second tackle on Theo Walcott. He had nothing else to say regarding the way the referee handled the match.
