Even After Superb Defensive Performance in 2-0 Win Over Man City, Wenger Should Sign van Dijk

Arsenal were handed a boost in their quest for defensive reinforcements as Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk has spoken positively about the links coming from North London, and has opened up the possibilities to a move across the border, according to Metro.

The Gunners are on the back of an impressive and comprehensive win against Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium last week and an even more impressive victory at the Etihad Stadium against the reigning Champions Manchester City who have been quite dominant in most games vs the gunners in recent times.

Yesterday was a different story as Arsenal kept it tight and gave up very few chances and once they took the lead through Cazorla’s perfectly taken penalty, they only looked like adding to it and so it proved. On yesterday’s showing maybe we don’t need van Dijk but surely it would be wise to grab some cover and give the squad a further confidence boost by letting them know that the club is trying to make a serious run at the so-called top two.

Van Dijk began his career at Groningen, and the Dutchman played three seasons in the senior side. In 2013, Celtic came calling, and since then, the 23-year old has played 53 games and scored 7 goals. The defender is younger and looks to have more upside than West Ham’s Winston Reid but we shall see if either signs for the Arsenal.
