EPL 2018/19 – Top 4 Signings So Far

The new English Premier League season is almost upon us and it promises to be a very exciting affair considering how everyone is looking forward to some good football action after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup last month. Here we go over the top 4 signings so far for the EPL 2018/19 season.

Naby Keita – Liverpool

The deal for Naby Keita to come over from RB Leipzig to Liverpool was arranged a year ago, so Liverpool fans have been waiting for quite some time to find out what the talented midfielder can do for the reds. The void left by Naby Keita at RB Leipzig was filled in by signing of Kevin Kampl, one of the six best Bundesliga summer signings of 2017. Naby is a fairly mobile midfielder capable of matching the intensity of the game at any point of time. He will give Juergen Klopp something to look forward to this season. Considering the fact that they managed to reach the Champions League final last season without him in the squad, makes it an exciting prospect for the team this time around. Naby Keita recovered the ball possession as many as 452 times for RB Leipzig in the past two seasons, which is more than any other footballer in the Bundesliga.

Lucas Torreira – Arsenal

Lucas is a ball winning midfielder who has an amazing tactical acumen even at a young age. Hailing from Uruguay, the 22 year old footballer is exactly what Arsenal had been looking forward to all this while. It is believed that Luis Suarez played a key role in bringing him over to the Gunners. Considering that they have been able to sign him at a very good price of £26million, from Sampdoria, he could turn out to be the key player for Arsenal this season. Lucas Torreira impressed everyone at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup and will bring fresh energy to the Unai Emery’s team. It should be noted that Torreira had successfully made 101 tackles last season for Sampdoria, making him one of the top three players in Serie A.

James Maddison – Leicester

He’d be replacing Riyad Mahrez, which many think will be a very difficult task, however, Leicester City fans can expect to have plenty of fun with James Maddison this season. He’s been brought over from Norwich on a five-year deal. The ex-Coventry youngster was the creative hub for Norwich last season. The team looked all set for elevation into Premier league when he left. At a young age of 21 years, James Madison has the vision, touch and temperament to see himself transition into a top-rated player in EPL. He created a total of 124 chances for Norwich in the championship last season, more than any other player.

Riyad Mahrez – Manchester City

His move to Manchester city was planned in January this year and the winger was finally signed up by the EPL winners this summer. Riyad Mahrez comes over as a record signing for the team and will find plenty of competition to find a place in it. It would be exciting to see where exactly he’s fitted in. What is even more exciting is that Mahrez will have a very good chance of adding a second EPL winners medal to his collection!
