Ex-Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has backed the Gunners to sign Roma striker Tammy Abraham this summer.
The former Chelsea player has racked up 24 goals in all competitions this season in Italy and Petit believes that the forward will have extra motivation to prove people wrong if he does make a return to the Premier League:
“I really like Tammy Abraham. What he’s doing at Roma in Italy and if they can bring him back to England he will be back in London with the feeling of revenge, and for me, it’s very important to have that extra motivation.”
A number of reports in the Italian media suggest that Roma would hold out for a fee in the region of €80m (£68m) to offload Abraham, which would be a significant outlay.
It does seem as though Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, although many feel that the Gunners need to sign two new strikers this summer.
Abraham is certainly another option, while the likes of Benfica’s Darwin Nunez, Lille’s Jonathan David and Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin have also been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months.
