Emery Wants Arsenal To Target Move For Real Madrid Wide Man

Arsenal are weighing up a move for Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez, according to reports in Spain.

The 27-year-old is unlikely to be a regular first-team player for the La Liga side next season, following Eden Hazard’s arrival from Chelsea.

Vazquez is apparently concerned that he will fall out of contention for selection for Spain ahead of next summer’s European Championships.

The Gunners could well be a possible destination for the Spaniard with manager Unai Emery said to be targeting him to play either as a right wingback or as a right-winger.

Vazquez was employed at right-back on occasion by Real last season, and his flexibility could help Arsenal fill a couple of positions in the first team squad.

Emery changed regularly from four at the back to 3-5-2 during his first campaign in charge and Vazquez would be suited to playing in either system.

The Real star made 47 appearances last campaign, scoring five goals and providing four assists.
