Emery Travels To Spain To Watch £30m Rated La Liga Star In Action

Arsenal manager Unai Emery was in the stands to watch Getafe defender Djene play against Valencia yesterday, according to AS.

With the Gunners not in action this weekend, the Spaniard returned back to his home country and kept a close eye on the Togolese international.

Djene was reportedly a target for Arsenal last summer, but Getafe were unwilling to let the player leave for below his release clause of €35m (£30m).

The 27-year-old has, however, been instrumental in his side’s rise to fourth in the table, with a realistic prospect of securing Champions League qualification.

Getafe have the third best defensive record in La Liga this season, with Djene having helped his team to another clean sheet in the 0-0 draw against Valencia last night.

The centre-back has featured in 25 of the Spanish club’s 28 league matches this campaign, having captained the side in recent weeks.

Whether Emery was scouting Djene in view to a summer bid, we shall have to wait and see.
