Emery Responds To Rumours That Juventus Star Could Make Arsenal Switch

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has admitted that Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira is a top player but he said the German international has not been discussed as one of the club’s transfer targets.

The 32-year-old was at the Emirates to see the Gunners play Lyon at the weekend, prompting talk he could be on the verge of a move to the Premier League.

However, when asked about Khedira following the match, Emery replied:

“Khedira is a very good player but this is the first time I have heard his name mentioned.”

It is believed that Khedira was there visiting one of his former international teammates Mesut Ozil, but the Juventus star is said to be available this summer.

Reports in Italy have suggested the midfielder could be offloaded on a free transfer by Juve as they look to reduce the club’s wage bill.

The arrival of Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal and Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain means Khedira is unlikely to play regularly next season due to the wealth of options available to Bianconeri boss Maurizio Sarri.
