Emery Praises Arsenal Starlet Nelson Hinting At Possible January Return

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has praised the form of Reiss Nelson. The winger is currently on a season-long loan with Hoffenheim and has been performing exceptionally well.

Despite making just four starts in the Bundesliga this campaign, the 18-year-old has already scored five goals, as well as contributing one assist.

When asked about Nelson’s performance, Emery said the club are keeping a close eye on him:

“With Reiss, we are very happy with him at the moment. We follow him every match. We are thinking how he can help us in the future.”

The Spaniard was then asked whether they’d consider recalling him in the January transfer window:

“At the moment we don’t speak about that.”

Nelson signed a new three-year contract extension before being loaned out to Hoffenheim, and the player has already made it known that he is willing to come back to the Gunners as and when he is needed for first-team duties.

He has made eight starts and 16 appearances in total for the London club; all of which came under Arsene Wenger last season. He didn’t manage a goal or an assist during that time, but he is certainly showing signs of maturing during his spell in Germany.
